An animated walk through one export from India: the IEC and LUT, the deal, the shipping bill, the Let Export Order, the ship, and getting paid.
What the video says
- Hello! Now let's understand how an export from India works. Say your company wants to sell cotton T-shirts abroad.
- You need an IEC. And most exporters file an LUT under GST, so they can export without paying IGST.
- You agree the price, the Incoterm and how you will be paid with the buyer: in advance, by letter of credit, or against documents.
- The goods are packed, the invoice and packing list are made, and the container reaches the port.
- Your CHA files the shipping bill on ICEGATE. Customs checks the papers and the goods and gives the Let Export Order.
- Only then are the goods loaded on the ship, and the shipping line issues the bill of lading.
- You send the documents to the buyer, directly or through your bank. The buyer's payment comes into your bank account, within the time RBI sets.
